In 2002, I built the very first Out of Sight Litter Box® in my garage after getting tired of cleaning up cat litter tracked throughout our home and damaging our new wood floors. What started as a solution for our five cats quickly became something friends wanted for their own homes. Their enthusiasm convinced me to turn one homemade cabinet into a business, and Out of Sight Litter Box, Inc. was born in 2003.

The years that followed were filled with incredible highs and difficult setbacks. Our patented cabinet earned industry recognition, and many industry awards including Cat Fancy Magazine Editor’s Choice, and demand continued to grow. Along the way I partnered with large furniture manufacturers, survived lawsuits, supplier shortages, economic downturns, COVID disruptions, and many manufacturer changes than I care to count. More than once it would have been easier to quit—but I never did.

Disappointments are just God’s way of saying “I’ve got something better for you.”

Every challenge became an opportunity to improve the product. Today’s Out of Sight Litter Box® is stronger, better engineered, beautifully finished, and proudly from day one, still Made in America! I have always believed that quality matters, even when it costs more. My goal has never been to build the cheapest cabinet—it has been to build the best one.

Although Out of Sight Litter Box® has grown far beyond that first garage-built cabinet, it has always remained personal to me. When you purchased one, you weren’t buying from a large corporation—you were buying from the inventor who designed it, packed it, and stood behind every cabinet. And, I am still involved after retirement, that’s just how a Founder lives life with the never ending passion of an Inventor.

After more than two decades of building the company, I was honored to pass Out of Sight Litter Box® to new ownership, Wood Chip LLC,  that shares my commitment to quality and customer service. Knowing the product will continue helping cat owners for generations to come is one of my greatest accomplishments.

God only gives three answers to prayers:
1. “Yes!”
2. “Not yet.”
3. “I have something better in mind.”

Looking back, success wasn’t getting my product into big-box stores or earning awards. Success was refusing to give up, creating a product that truly solves a problem all cat owners have, and hearing from thousands of happy customers whose homes are cleaner (and smell better) because of an idea created in my garage.

It was with great JOY that in April 2024 the acquisition of Out of Sight Litter Box, Inc. by Wood Chip, LLC of the St. Louis area, Fenton, Missouri was signed. 
I am very confident in the new owner and manufacturer, Bryan Erlanger, he is young, energetic, smart and has a great background in the ready to assemble (RTA) furniture industry.
